On the day of a great Journey.
August 25, 2008
Well. It’s here. the day I leave. I am getting on a plane at 12:55AM tomorrow morning (i.e. tonight) and flying to Houston and then to Miami and then all the way to Costa Rica.
These are my thoughts about my trip:
1) Packing is not fun for international trips. It’s a frustrating balance of taking things, leaving things, and being all sweaty. I was very ready to be done with packing before my mom, dad, and I started. Details aren’t my strong suit, and as such I became irritable.
2) I’m not incredibly nervous. I’m mostly just ready to go. I’ve been in this 10 day long limbo (minus the stick and the catchy song telling me to “Limbo lower now!”) of going to Costa Rica soon, but not yet. In some ways it reminds me of the Kingdom of God which is both here and “not yet”…Not in very many ways though. If I took time to think about it I’m sure I could draw more parallels.
3) I’m very excited to hang out with my host family. They’re christians and Costa Rican. Sounds like good stuff.
4) I get to go to Cuba. For real. That will be sweet.
Okay, my mom wants the computer back so she can try and arrange med-Evac insurance and something that says what to do with my remains…I’m not sure that I like the sound of any of that.
In any case. I will miss you (not the blog, but you people who know me) while I’m gone. Save good stories to tell me. Next post is from Costa Rica. Carry on.
PS: I visited camp again today. It was lovely. I like those people a lot.
