Hey everyone. So this is it. The first blog thinger. Well here we go. I went to see Bedouin Soundclash tonight with some friends of mine from home at Chop Suy in Capitol Hill. Let me tell you, bands with drunk lead singers are not fun to watch. I love the band, they have a great sound and I appreciate their music…but when it is articulated through the mouth of a drunk man it just makes me sad/angry. I ordered a cup of water on the rocks at the bar because I’m 21…I know what you’re thinking: Such a badass. I know, I know, but sometimes it’s hard to hold myself back. Anyhow, overall the show was a good time (especially because the last song involved all the bands that played doing one Bedouin Soundclash song…it was really fun to watch/listen to).
On a different note. I recently realized that I am a bit of a perfectionist (Kudos to Paula Green). Not in areas like school, or hockey, or wild game hunting…but in relationships. I never thought it was true, and the fact of the matter is that perfectionism in other things (like school or hockey) bothers me, but for some reason I am just peachy keen on the idea of being perfectionist myself while I dislike it in others…Hmmm…Well, that’s a bit of human nature for you. My friend Mike put it this way when he said, “Sometimes the reason we don’t like things in others is because we are frustrated by seeing them in ourselves.” Touche Mike. Touche.
It’s time for me to go to sleep now, but I’ll leave you with a story about my day that is hopefully enjoyable:
…The only thing that comes to mind is the way that my friend Stephen views getting places. When we get lost (like tonight) and Stephen is driving, he will make a sphere out of his hands and drawing an imaginary line around the “globe” he has created he will say, “Chauncey, the world is a sphere. If we keep going in a straight line, eventually we’ll get where we want to go.” I don’t know that I always agree with Stephen, but I guess at the end of the day…he’s either right or he’s not.
